New Delhi: The Reserve Bank on Thursday directed banks to try banking services at its doorstep by the end of December this year to senior citizens and people of Divyans 70 years and above.
Banks have been advised that such facilities like cash transaction, check book and demand draft will be given to the people at home. The Reserve Bank of India, which has notified the notification, said that it has often been noted that senior citizens and divisions are being discouraged in the banks. In view of these difficulties, banks are advised that they work together to provide basic banking facilities. The RBI's order is also available for banks, as well as for small finance and payments banks.
Notification also states that in addition to the 'Digital Life Certificate' 'Life Assessment' scheme, pensioners' life certificate can be deposited in any branch of the bank paying pension. RBI has asked the banks to provide at least 25 checks of check book free of cost to all savings account holders free of cost every year.
