Now customers will get home banking facility only
70 years of age or older and the age group will get banking facilities at their home soon. The Reserve Bank of India has directed banks to provide general banking facilities to people aged 70 years and above and physically challenged people at their homes. Banks have been given time till December 31 to implement this.
Banks have been advised that facilities such as cash transaction, check book and demand draft of those people will be given to the house. In the notification, the RBI said that, it has been found that sometimes some of the banks of senior banks and divisions are discouraged in the branches of banks. Considering all these difficulties, banks have been advised that they work in a coherent manner to provide banking facilities. “The RBI order is also available to banks, as well as for small finance and payments banks.

The facility offered at home to special customers is to include cash depositing, delivery of demand draft, receiving KYC documents and life certification. Banks have been asked to apply this rule till December 31, 2017 and along with this, they have to be informed about their bank’s branch and website.
Notification also states that in addition to the ‘Digital Life Certificate’ ‘Life Assessment’ scheme, pensioners’ life certificate can be deposited in any branch of the bank paying pension. RBI has asked the banks to provide at least 25 checks of check book free of cost to all savings account holders free of cost every year.
